The selection of works includes important names of Cuban Outsider Art masters, internationally recognized, such as Jorge Alberto Cadi “El Buzo” and Misleidys Castillo, and other talented creators, like Yaniel Agrafojo, Isaac Crespo, Boris Santamaria, and Damián Valdes Dilla.
NAEMI, in collaboration with ART CODE SPACE, is proud to announce The ingenuity of violence in Outsider Cuban art, a collective exhibition of outsider art from the permanent art collection of NAEMI (National Arts Exhibitions of the Mentally III). The show will start running online from this Friday, April 9, 2021, until Friday, June 11, 2021.
The aesthetic violence of outsider art is intuitive and naive, which rules out the conscious intention of recreating a style, which only becomes as such by the wonderful sensory connection of an entity "outside the artistic context or mentally out of control" (comparing the standards that are considered normal). The truth is that this disorder and chaos in the representation make "the art that does not know its name" a solid and authentic movement within the history of art.

Funding for this project is provided in part by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council.
